🌉 Golden Gate Downwinder

From the Bridge to Treasure Island – Ride the Bay Like a Local

Join us for the ultimate San Francisco Bay wingfoiling experience: the Golden Gate Downwinder. Designed for intermediate riders who are comfortable riding in both directions and ready to explore open water and rolling swell, this guided journey runs from the Golden Gate Bridge all the way to Treasure Island.

With pro boat support alongside the group, this is more than just a downwinder—it’s an adventure through the heart of SF Bay’s dynamic terrain. You’ll ride with confidence as we chase lines across iconic waters, glide past Alcatraz, and carve swells in the shadow of the skyline.

Whether you’re a solo rider or a group of up to 4 friends, this session is a powerful blend of coaching, connection, and pure stoke. Along the way, you’ll gain insights into wind patterns, tide flow, safety considerations, and the microclimates that shape our playground.

About

Launching from the boat on the east side of the golden gate bridghe offers wingfoilers an iconic Bay Area downwind experience that combines adrenaline, technique, and breathtaking views in one epic ride. As you push off from the boat near the Golden Gate Bridge, the consistent afternoon westerlies funnel through the gate, creating perfect conditions to power up your wing and connect the rolling swells that march through the bay. Once foiling, you’re treated to a unique perspective of the city falling away behind you as you carve across the deep blue waters, navigating between anchored ships and catching consistent sets of waves that seem to pulse endlessly toward the East Bay. The journey becomes a dance of linking together long glides, where you can often cut the power in your wing and simply surf the swells for hundreds of yards at a time. The ever-changing conditions demand constant adaptation – from the choppy waters near Alcatraz to the gradually smoothing surface as you approach Treasure Island. As you cruise past the Bay Bridge, Berkeley’s marina comes into view, offering multiple possible ending points for your downwind adventure. The whole run can take anywhere from 1.5-2.25 hours depending on conditions and how much you engage with the swell, but every minute is filled with that unique sensation of flying over water while taking in San Francisco’s maritime playground from a perspective few get to experience.
