Local Expert Captain Josh Waldman

I’m Captain Josh Waldman, a Bay Area native and seasoned waterman with a passion for all things wind and water. As a 100 Ton Licensed Captain, I bring three decades of experience running a variety of vessels, including powerboats, fishing boats, sailboats, and luxury yachts. My love for sailing the world ignited a passion for wind sports, which I’ve been able to cultivate right in my own backyard. I’ve sailed through ports from Seattle to Panama, including the Galapagos and Tahiti, always drawn by the consistent winds and the desire to explore and grow as an athlete.

My teaching journey began with kiteboarding and quickly expanded into racing KiteFoil. Recently, I’ve focused on the exciting world of Wing Foil. Over the past decade, I’ve honed my skills alongside the best in the industry, spending significant time in renowned wind spots like Baja, Maui, Hood River, and the Caribbean. This immersion in incredible conditions has shaped my riding, and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned with you.
At SF Wing Foil Academy, I offer a comprehensive step-by-step curriculum that prioritizes safety while accelerating your learning. I provide a variety of professional gear, including customized beginner boards, ensuring even the newest students have a successful first session. With an extensive selection of masts, foils, boards, and wetsuits, every student enjoys a tailored and comfortable experience. My focus on one-on-one time in the water allows you to learn at your own pace, fostering a genuine love for the sport.

I also cater to intermediate and advanced students looking to enhance their skills, so regardless of your level, there’s a path for you to elevate your riding.

With deep knowledge of local waters and prime wind spots, I guarantee an exhilarating yet safe experience whether you’re a seasoned winger or just starting out. From choosing the best locations to providing expert guidance, I promise an unforgettable adventure tailored to your skills. Join me and explore California’s hidden gems on the bay.
